Pride of Texas show, a family owned company based in Beeville, participated in the livestock show for the first time this year. Owner Doug Barton said he strives for the attractions and employees to be professional and wants everyone to have a good time. "I want everyone to not only be impressed, but also pleased," Barton said.

South Texas Shetland Pony club runs the events and contestants compete in different categories based on age. Organizer Julie Zander says this competition lets kids decide if they want to continue going to competitions to show off their horses. "My favorite part is the kids," Zander said. "I grew up doing this and it's funny how we pass down this tradition.

James Matej puts a western hat on his son Mason to prepare him for the Victoria Livestock Show Parade on Saturday. Mason is participating in Little Mister Cowboy during the show and will have to give a short speech about who he is and what makes him unique. Mason’s mother Madlen is a Victoria native and wanted to involve him in the community. “I just saw it and said ‘Why not?’,” Madlen said. “I wanted him to get the people aspect and to be more connected in the community.” Shot for Victoria Advocate
